My Name is Jeffrey Kontio. I received my EdD from New Jersey City University in their Educational Technology Leadership program as part of the Innovative Cohort 10. I'm a passionate advocate for accessibility in the digital and physical realm - which has carried into my research and into my work as an Educational Technology leader.
My Dissertation, "Shifting to a Culture of Digital Accessibility in Higher Education: A Proactive Framework for Instructional Design," introduces the concept of The Institutional Commitment Threshold, which is the inflection point at which an institution transitions from reactive practices to an embedded, sustainable culture of, in my research's case, digital accessibility. The framework highlights three interdependent domains (administrative practices, instructional design and faculty development, and technological infrastructure) and offers guidance on how institutions can assess progress, identify barriers, and develop a long-term institutional culture shift towards a more inclusive digital practices.
I have been supporting technology in Higher Ed for the better part of the last decade after receiving my Bachelors Degree in Business - Computer Information Systems (2009) and Masters in Educational Administration (2016) from Northern Michigan University. I am the IT Manager for the Department of Politics at Princeton University and a Lecturer in IT Accessibility for Rutger's Universities School of Communication and Information
Please feel free to explore my digital portfolio as to see the progress towards my Doctorate in Educational Technology Leadership as well as the research, scholarship, and other works in the fields of educational technology and digital accessibility.
